UPDATE – Vodafone Unusable 3G Coverage Newcastle NE1
Following an earlier article on ForHacSec.com in relation to the unusable 3G data service provided by mobile telecommunication provider Vodafone UK. Vodafone UK’s directors office (office of Guy Laurence) advised following a complaint which a number of Newcastle based Vodafone customers submitted regarding the unusable 3G data service and the way in which Vodafone had failed to acknowledge and respond to the issues to date.
The office of Guy Laurence have advised that the current ‘official’ line is that there is definitely NO fault in the Newcastle City Centre NE1 area and the poor 3G data service is down to purely user/customer over subscription.
Vodafone UK stated they are in the process of arranging new cells/masts for the Newcastle City Centre NE1 area, however, as customers have heard previously, this is expected to be within the next 6 months.
It has been suggested to Vodafone UK that perhaps they should be making new and existing customers aware of the issue. Of which they have responded stating that they are only required to provide a data service, of which lesser technology than 3G is classed as data and are only required to check the customers home address for coverage. However, they would look in to possibly notifying new customers, however, are unable to determine exactly which customers will need to access the 3G data service in the Newcastle NE1 area.
Yet, most people who are having the issues either work in the NE1 area or have to travel through it, spending more of their time in the NE1 area than at home in some cases due to work commitments.
It would appear Facebook page has been created called – Vodafone Newcastle NE1 – Unusable 3G Service if anyone wishes to join and comment.
